ACCA's Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) is the internationally recognised entry point to a career in professional accounting. CBBS tutors all FIA papers, giving students the technical grounding and exam confidence to progress to the full ACCA Qualification.

◆ What is FIA and why does it matter?

FIA is designed for those beginning their accountancy journey. It covers financial management fundamentals, business accounting and reporting - building the vocabulary every finance professional needs.

There are no entry requirements. Students can complete the FIA group of exams in 12-18 months and gain a globally recognised qualification in the process.

◆ The CBBS FIA learning approach
1
Concept grounding

We begin every topic with the "why" behind the numbers - not just how to record a transaction, but what it means for the business.

2
Technical exam skills

Structured practice aligned to ACCA FIA past papers and question bank. Students learn to read and answer questions with precision.

3
Real-world application

Our practitioners bring live examples from accounting firm experience, so abstract concepts become tangible and memorable.

4
Professional mindset

We instil ACCA's ethical framework and the habits of professional accountants from day one - because character matters as much as competence.

Note: ACCA Qualification is changing from 2027

ACCA is redesigning its qualification for a redefined profession. CBBS stays current with all syllabus changes, ensuring our students are always prepared for the qualification as it evolves. Speak to us about how the 2027 changes affect your study plan.

GCSE Accounting is where the journey begins. CBBS provides structured, engaging tuition for students taking accounting at GCSE level - building the numeracy, financial literacy and analytical confidence that makes everything else possible.

Why GCSE Accounting with CBBS?

Many students first encounter accounting at GCSE and find it abstract or intimidating. Our tutors present it as storytelling - every set of accounts tells the story of a business. Students who understand the story pass exams and remember the subject for life.

What CBBS covers at GCSE level

Double-entry bookkeeping, financial statements, trial balances, balance sheet interpretation, ratio analysis, and accounting concepts. All delivered in plain language with plenty of worked examples and student practice.

◆ GCSE to ACCA - the CBBS skills bridge

CBBS deliberately structures GCSE tuition to build the foundations that FIA and beyond require. Students who study GCSE Accounting with us arrive at FIA Level 2 with a significant head start.

CBBS is not a one-exam tutor. We are your long-term development partner - from the moment your child picks up an accounting textbook, through to the day they present a boardroom financial strategy. This is what Integrative Thinking CFO development looks like.

The CFO of tomorrow is not just a financial reporter. They are a systems thinker who sees how strategy, operations, capital and people interconnect. CBBS builds that lens from the very beginning of a student's journey.

- CBBS Institute Philosophy

◆ The CBBS development continuum
1
Financial literacy foundation (GCSE)

The language of business. Concepts, numeracy, double entry. "How does money move through an organisation?"

2
Technical accounting competence (FIA / CAT)

ACCA recognised qualifications. Financial management, management accounting, business accounting. BICA Accounting Technician eligible.

3
Professional qualification (ACCA)

Full ACCA. Strategic business leadership, advanced financial management, audit and assurance. BICA Professional Accountant eligible.

4
Integrative thinking leadership

Where CBBS's philosophy reaches its destination. Finance leaders who can synthesise multi-dimensional problems - regulatory, strategic, operational and human - into clear decisions for complex organisations.

What is Integrative Thinking?

Integrative Thinking is the discipline of holding two or more competing models in mind simultaneously and constructing a new, superior solution. It is the mindset of the modern CFO who must balance profitability with sustainability, short-term results with long-term value, and financial discipline with commercial boldness.

Why start at GCSE level?

Because habits of mind form early. Students who learn to question assumptions, understand trade-offs, and interpret financial information at age 16 carry those capabilities forward. CBBS deliberately teaches accounting as a thinking discipline, not just a technical skill, from the very first lesson.

Botswana's accountancy profession is growing - but the pipeline of citizen professional accountants remains a strategic priority. These BICA statistics from April 2026 show both the scale of the opportunity and the need for quality tuition providers like CBBS.

What these numbers mean for CBBS students

With only 948 citizen Professional Accountants in Botswana and a national target of growing the profession significantly, every qualified citizen accountant matters. The AT-to-PA upgrade rate (23 in 2026 to date vs 39 for the whole of 2025) shows the pathway is active - but more support at the foundation level is needed to accelerate it. CBBS is committed to filling that gap, one student at a time, starting from GCSE level.
